GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT II (Natural Resource Contract Specialist) ? (37000504)

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and well-organized individual to provide natural and cultural resource contract support for the Division of Recreation and Parks.

Florida State Parks span the entire state with 175 state parks and trails, the only state park system in the United States to be recognized four times with the gold medal award. Projects include natural community or hydrologic restoration, imperiled species monitoring, invasive species control, prescribed fire, and cultural resource protection.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position in the Bureau of Natural and Cultural Resources will:

Initiates, manages and maintains all resource management agreements and contracts supporting Resource Management.� Coordinates with other state, federal and county agencies as needed.

Develop scopes of work and pursue formal solicitations for statewide resource management contracts in consultation with program staff. Develop, review and processing of all related contract documents, including task assignments, purchase orders, reports and invoices for payment within required time frames and procedures. Monitor contracts and contractors to assure programmatic and administrative requirements continue to be met throughout the term of the contracts. Maintain tracking report on encumbrances, expenditures, funding type, invoicing status and project completion.� Work with contractors and field staff to ensure an effective and efficient contracting process.

Investigates, assesses, analyzes and makes recommendations to initiate solutions to natural resource management issues through partnerships and/or agreements with other natural resource management agencies and organizations.� Prepares special reports based on research, investigation and analysis.� Performs and manages special assignments and projects.�

Work with other Sections within the Bureau to support the goals and initiatives of the Division.

Responsible for supervising a full time OPS staff member in order to maximize the effectiveness of the Bureau and Section.

Other duties may include field activities and in performing these duties must meet all Division requirements and standards for such.

Perform other duties as assigned.
